| Dilip Tirkey to play Dutch League hockey |
| NEW DELHI, APR 20 (PTI) |
Seasoned defender Dilip Tirkey would play in the Dutch League hockey tournament for the second consecutive year.
Dilip would take the flight to Amsterdam later tonight to play the professional tournament.
The Indian Airlines full back would play for the same side -- Klein Zwitserland -- for which he had turned up last year. He would be in the Netherlands for 20 days and play four matches during that period.
Dilip, who was suffering from an ankle injury, made his comeback to competitive hockey in the recent four-nation invitational meet at Monchengladbach, Germany.
"It's not a very long assignment. I will be there for 20 days and play four matches," he told PTI today.
On playing along side teammate Gagan Ajit Singh for a Dutch club, he said, "Gagan is there for quite some time. So it will be nice to play along side him once again for the same club." This year, after failing to make it to the Commonwealth Games squad, Gagan had joined Klien Zwiterland to play the Dutch League.
Besides Gagan, Dilip will have another companion during his stint in Holland as the veteran defender's wife Meera is also accompanying him on the tour.
Dilip will be back here by the second week of next month, before the Indian team's preparations for the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament in Kuala Lumpur take off.
